Greg Franz named as Wenatchee Valley College athletic director

Greg Franz has been named as Wenatchee Valley College athletic director. Franz replaces Marco Azurdia, who served as both athletic director and vice president of student development at WVC. Azurdia has accepted a position as executive director of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC).

Franz began his career at Wenatchee Valley College in 1988 as men’s basketball coach. He retired as coach in 2007 and was inducted into the WVC Hall of Fame the same year. He recently served as assistant coach for the Lady Knights. Franz also teaches physical education, personal wellness, social sciences and first aid courses at WVC.

Azurdia served at WVC for 20 years, where he was head women’s basketball coach, coordinator of multicultural affairs, director of admissions, and dean of student development. He served as vice president of student development and athletic director since 2006.
